UFC Fight Night down to eight fights after three bouts called off Saturday

The UFC has lost more than a quarter of its card for Saturday night.

Three fights were canceled just hours before the start of UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas, including two because of positive COVID-19 tests, ESPN confirmed with UFC officials. The event will go on with eight fights after starting the day with 11 total.

The canceled bouts were Montana De La Rosa vs. Taila Santos, Movsar Evloev vs. Nate Landwehr and Jimmy Flick vs. Cody Durden. De La Rosa vs. Santos and Evloev vs. Landwehr were slated for the main card but were canceled due to positive tests.

The UFC said the Flick-Durden fight was off because of a non-COVID-19-related medical issue for Durden.

Last week's UFC Fight Night card lost its heavyweight headliner, Curtis Blaydes vs. Derrick Lewis, the day before the event after Blaydes tested positive for COVID-19.

Saturday's UFC Fight Night will be headlined by a middleweight contender bout between Jack Hermansson and Marvin Vettori. ESPN has Hermansson ranked No. 6 in the world at middleweight.

Hermansson was originally scheduled to fight Kevin Holland in this main event, but Holland tested positive for COVID-19 and was replaced by Vettori.
