Alex Pereira shocks Jiří Procházka to win light heavyweight title (1:06)

Alex Pereira survives an early battle and stuns Jiří Procházka with a second-round knockout to win the UFC light heavyweight championship. (1:06)

NEW YORK -- Two titles were on the line at UFC 295, but who would leave Madison Square Garden with the belts?

Alex Pereira has fought just six times in the UFC, but in his third fight in New York he stunned Jirí Procházka and claimed the UFC light heavyweight title. Pereira survived a flurry of Prochazka strikes by landing counter left and right hooks that sent his opponent to the ground. After landing some strikes on the ground, the fight was called and "Poatan" is now a two-division champion.

In the co-main event, Tom Aspinall evaded the powerful Sergei Pavlovich by sending some power back via a sharp right hand onto Pavlovich's temple early in round one. After landing a few ground strikes, the referee called the fight and England had their third ever UFC champion (Michael Bisping and Leon Edwards) and first at heavyweight. Pereira joins Amanda Nunes as the only Brazilian fighters to win belts in two divisions.
