OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Golden State Warriors announced on Tuesday that guard Stephen Curry continues to make progress on his sprained right ankle and he'll be re-evaluated on Friday.
It will be the third re-evaluation on his ankle since injuring it in New Orleans on Dec. 4. He was evaluated two weeks after sustaining the sprain, then a week later and now three days from now.
If he clears his checkup on Friday, he could be available for the contest that evening against the Charlotte Hornets, his hometown team.
In the team's release, it read: "After participating in one modified on-court scrimmage session late last week, the goal moving forward will be to build his tolerance by increasing his on-court practice demands and intensity."
The past few games, Curry has taken the court prior to tip off to do some shooting and defensive sliding drills. He hasn't displayed a noticeable limp, a sign his return is near.
Golden State has been overly cautious on returning Curry to full-time basketball-related duties. Head coach Steve Kerr said it would be irresponsible to activate him prematurely at this stage in the season. He has missed the past nine games, and the Warriors are 8-1 in that span.
