Oct. 15 update

2:05 p.m. ET: Jamal Crawford has reached a one-year agreement with the Phoenix Suns, he told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. A three-time Sixth Man of the Year award winner, Crawford is a proven scorer that has averaged 15.0 points per game for his career. Entering his 19th season in the NBA, Crawford will now play for his eighth different franchise.

Sept. 18 update

12:44 p.m. ET: The New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to terms on a one-year, veteran-minimum contract with guard Jarrett Jack, according to multiple reports. Jack, who turns 35 next month, has played 13 years in the NBA, including two previous stints with New Orleans.

Sept. 17 update

1:02 p.m. ET: Dwyane Wade announced Sunday night in a video that he's returning to the Miami Heat for a 16th and final NBA season. Wade, 36, is Miami's career leader in points, assists, steals and games played.

2:50 p.m. ET: After meeting with Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations and coach Tom Thibodeau on Monday, free agent forward Luol Deng agreed to a one-year deal with the franchise, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

2:29 p.m. ET: Restricted free agent forward Rodney Hood has decided to sign his one-year, $3.4 million qualifying offer with the Cleveland Cavaliers, sources told ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

9:40 a.m. ET: Free agent Carmelo Anthony plans to sign his one-year, $2.4 million deal with the Houston Rockets on Monday, league sources tell ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

6:12 p.m. ET: The New York Knicks remain unlikely to reincorporate exiled center Joakim Noah into the team under new coach David Fizdale and still plan to part ways with him before training camp, league sources told ESPN.


3:35 p.m. ET: Devin Harris is returning to the Dallas Mavericks for the third time after signing a $2.4 million free-agent contract. The 35-year-old Harris, entering his 14th season in the NBA, signed for the veteran minimum.


9:37 a.m. ET: Free-agent center Jahlil Okafor has agreed to a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, league sources told ESPN. A source told ESPN that Okafor's deal includes a partial guarantee for the 2018-19 season and a team option for the following season.

Aug. 7 updates

3:15 p.m. ET: Free-agent guard Shelvin Mack is signing a one-year deal with the Memphis Grizzlies, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Mack, who played for the Orlando Magic last season, will be starting his eighth NBA year.


2:30 p.m. ET: The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired forward Sam Dekker in a trade with the LA Clippers, it was officially announced Tuesday. As part of the trade, the Cavaliers will send the draft rights to Vladimir Veremeenko to the Clippers. The Cavaliers will also receive the rights to Renaldas Seibutis and cash considerations.


11:28 a.m. ET: Free-agent big man Greg Monroe has agreed to a one-year, $2.2 million contract with the Toronto Raptors, according to multiple reports. Monroe is expected to be the Raptors backup center behind starter Jonas Valanciunas, TSN reports. The news was first reported by Yahoo Sports.


11:22 a.m. ET: The Cleveland Cavaliers are finalizing a trade to acquire LA Clippers forward Sam Dekker, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Dekker, a three-year NBA veteran, played his first two seasons with the Houston Rockets, and was acquired by the Clippers last June in the Chris Paul trade.

Aug. 1 updates

7:03 p.m. ET: The Milwaukee Bucks have waived point guard Brandon Jennings, according to multiple reports. The Bucks had signed Jennings to a two-year, non-guaranteed contract last season after giving him two 10-day deals.


5:48 p.m. ET: Carmelo Anthony passed through waivers at 5 p.m. ET, clearing the way for the 34-year-old forward to sign with the Houston Rockets on a one-year, $2.4 million deal. Anthony and the Atlanta Hawks finalized a contract buyout on Monday.


5:45 p.m. ET: The Houston Rockets have traded center Chinanu Onuaku and cash to the Dallas Mavericks for a 2020 second-round pick swap, a league source told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.


2:44 p.m. ET: The Cleveland Cavaliers have received a commitment from free-agent guard David Nwaba, a team source told ESPN's Dave McMenamin. Nwaba averaged 7.9 points on 47.8 percent shooting (34.6 percent from 3) and 4.7 rebounds for the Chicago Bulls last season. Yahoo! and Cleveland.com earlier reported the agreement between Nwaba and the Cavs.

July 30 updates

4:17 p.m. ET: Dwyane Wade said a decision on whether he will play a 16th season and where he would play is still pending. "In due time," Wade told reporters when asked if he has an update on whether he will continue playing in the NBA or overseas or retire. "Time will tell."


10:22 a.m. ET: Carmelo Anthony has finalized a buyout with the Atlanta Hawks, giving back $2.4 million of his $27.9 million salary for 2018-19, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Anthony will wait to clear waivers in 48 hours to officially tell the Houston Rockets of his intentions to sign.

July 27 updates

4:40 p.m. ET: The Houston Rockets have reached an agreement with restricted free-agent center Clint Capela on a five-year, $90 million extension, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. If Capela had signed a $4.3 million qualifying offer, he would have entered 2019 as an unrestricted free agent.


4:05 p.m. ET: While the Miami Heat are willing to be patient as Dwyane Wade figures out his plans, Heat president Pat Riley said Friday that he will have talks with managing general partner Micky Arison in the coming days about Wade's future. Realistically, there are only two contract options for Miami to present Wade: the $5.3 million exception or the $2.4 million veterans minimum.

July 25 updates

7:05 p.m. ET: The Atlanta Hawks agreed to sign forward Vince Carter to a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Carter, who played with the Sacramento Kings last season, will enter his 21st NBA season. The Hawks also agreed to a deal with former Oklahoma City Thunder wing Daniel Hamilton, according to Wojnarowski.

July 24 updates

2:38 p.m. ET: Free-agent guard Dwyane Wade has been offered a three-year, $25 million contract by the Zhejiang Golden Bulls, according to Chinese media reports. The deal, which is before taxes, would make Wade the highest-paid player in China.


11:39 a.m. ET: Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love has signed a four-year, $120 million contract extension that tops out his overall deal at five years, $145 million, league sources told ESPN on Tuesday. Love, a five-time All-Star, opted out of the 2019-20 season on his current five-year deal.

July 23 updates

4:52 p.m. ET: The Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to trade forward Jarell Martin and cash to the Orlando Magic for center Dakari Johnson, league sources told ESPN. The deal includes the Magic sending Memphis the draft rights to Tyler Harvey, a 2015 second-round pick, a league source said.


2:02 p.m. ET: The Dallas Mavericks announced Monday that they have re-signed 13-time All-Star Dirk Nowitzki to a one-year, $5 million contract. Nowitzki, a former NBA MVP who turned 40 last month, is set to become the first player in NBA history to play 21 consecutive seasons for the same franchise.

July 22 updates

7:35 a.m. ET: Free-agent center Alex Len has agreed to a two-year, $8.5 million contract with the Atlanta Hawks. Yahoo! Sports first reported the deal, and a source confirmed to ESPN. Len, 25, was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft and has averaged 7.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game during his career.

July 21 updates

2:27 p.m. ET: Restricted-free-agent center Montrezl Harrell has agreed to a two-year, $12 million deal to return to the LA Clippers, agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Harrell played 76 games for the Clippers last season, primarily backing up DeAndre Jordan, who signed with the Dallas Mavericks earlier this summer.

July 20 updates

10:02 p.m. ET: The Sacramento Kings and forward Nemanja Bjelica have agreed to a three-year deal (first reported by Yahoo Sports). Bjelica spent the previous three seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and had agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason before backing out this week, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Bjelica started 21 games at small forward last season during All-Star Jimmy Butler's injury absence and could be slated to compete to start at that position due to Sacramento's logjam of big men.


5:04 p.m. ET: After spending last season with the New York Knicks, former No. 2 overall pick Michael Beasley is joining the Los Angeles Lakers on a one-year, $3.5 million deal, league sources told ESPN. Beasley rejoins LeBron James, with whom he previously played in Miami.


4:34 p.m. ET: After backing out his agreement to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks, guard Yogi Ferrell has agreed to a two-year deal with the Sacramento Kings, according to a Yahoo Sports report. Ferrell averaged 10.2 points in 27.8 minutes per game for the Mavericks last season.


11:13 a.m. ET: The Brooklyn Nets acquired Jared Dudley and a 2021 second-round draft pick in a trade with the Phoenix Suns on Friday, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Suns receive forward Darrell Arthur, who will be waived after his $7.4 million contract is bought out, league sources said.

July 19 updates

4:42 p.m. ET: The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to trade Carmelo Anthony and a protected 2022 first-round pick to the Atlanta Hawks as part of a three-team deal, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Hawks will waive Anthony, who will then be free to join the team of his choice, with the Houston Rockets being the front-runner to land the former scoring champion.


1:27 p.m. ET: Free-agent guard Yogi Ferrell has agreed to a two-year deal worth $5.3 million to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks, sources told ESPN. Ferrell, 25, has averaged 10.6 points and 3.0 assists in 118 games for the Mavs, including 50 starts.


11 a.m. ET: Restricted free agent Marcus Smart has agreed to a four-year, $52 million contract with the Boston Celtics, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

July 18 updates

8:12 a.m. ET: The Toronto Raptors have agreed in principle to a deal to acquire San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard in a trade package that includes DeMar DeRozan, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.


12:22 a.m. ET: The Portland Trail Blazers have waived center Georgios Papagiannis, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Papagiannis was a 2016 lottery pick by the Sacramento Kings, but the Kings waived him in February. Papagiannis appeared in only one game with Portland after joining the team in March.

July 17 updates

4:03 p.m. ET: The Cleveland Cavaliers have waived center Kendrick Perkins, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Perkins, 33, was signed on the final day of the 2017-18 regular season but did not play a single minute in the postseason.


12:40 p.m. ET: Kawhi Leonard is seriously considering participation in the USA Basketball national team's minicamp in Las Vegas next week, an event for the embattled All-NBA forward to showcase the status of his recovery to prospective trade partners, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne.


11:47 a.m. ET: The Sacramento Kings are finalizing a trade to send Garrett Temple to the Memphis Grizzlies for Ben McLemore, Deyonta Davis and cash, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.


11:14 a.m. ET: Free-agent forward Nemanja Bjelica, who had agreed to but not signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, informed the team on Monday that he will stay in Europe this season, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

July 16 updates

3:21 p.m. ET: Free-agent forward Dante Cunningham has agreed to a one-year deal with the San Antonio Spurs, a league source told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Cunningham played 73 games last season (25 starts) between the New Orleans Pelicans and Brooklyn Nets.


12:37 p.m. ET: Kawhi Leonard is now eligible to receive the super-max extension (five years, $221 million) from the San Antonio Spurs, according to ESPN NBA Front Office Insider Bobby Marks. If Leonard is traded, the most he could receive in an extension would be $108 million over four years (starting in 2019-20). The forward would also be eligible to sign a five-year, $190 million contract as a free agent with the team acquiring him or a four-year, $141 million deal with another team that has cap space.


11:05 a.m. ET: The LA Clippers are expected to keep point guard Milos Teodosic, locking in his full salary for the 2018-19 season, the Los Angeles Times reports. Teodosic, 31, exercised his $6.3 million option last month. The Clippers had until Sunday to waive or retain Teodosic.

July 14 updates

3:50 p.m. ET: On his 27th birthday, guard Shabazz Napier has agreed to a two-year deal with the Brooklyn Nets, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Napier averaged a career-best 8.7 points and 20 minutes per game last year with the Portland Trail Blazers.


1:54 p.m. ET: Center Channing Frye, who finished last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, has signed a one-year, $2.4 million deal to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, sources confirmed to ESPN. The deal was first reported by Yahoo! Sports. Frye was a key member of the Cavaliers' 2016 NBA championship team before he was traded at last season's deadline.


12:06 p.m. ET: Forward Jabari Parker has agreed to a two-year, $40 million contract with the Chicago Bulls, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Parker had been a restricted free agent, but the Milwaukee Bucks rescinded his qualifying offer, allowing him to sign the two-year deal with a team option on the second year, which wouldn't have been possible as an offer sheet.


12:30 a.m. ET: The Dallas Mavericks and point guard Yogi Ferrell are close to a deal, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon. Ferrell was originally a restricted free agent, but the Mavericks rescinded his qualifying offer with the intention to re-sign him.

July 13 updates

9:14 p.m. ET: The Utah Jazz and power forward Georges Niang have agreed to a contract. Niang, a 2016 second-round pick by Indiana, ended the 2017-18 season on a two-way contract with the Jazz.


6:25 p.m. ET: The Chicago Bulls are progressing on an offer sheet for Milwaukee Bucks forward Jabari Parker, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Parker, who is a restricted free agent, was the second pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Bucks. Chicago waived shooting guard Sean Kilpatrick and rescinded the qualifying offer to small forward David Nwaba on Thursday. Wojnarowski adds that a deal could be done Saturday and that Milwaukee is not expected to match.


4:44 p.m. ET: Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Jimmy Butler has turned down a four-year extension worth close to $100 million, a league source confirmed to ESPN. If Butler puts together another All-Star-caliber season, he stands to make even more money next summer because the league's salary cap is expected to rise.

July 12 updates

11:50 p.m. ET: The Denver Nuggets and point guard Isaiah Thomas agreed to a one-year deal for the veterans minimum, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Thomas, who finished fifth in MVP voting in 2017 as a member of the Boston Celtics, spent the 2017-18 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers. Thomas' last two seasons were cut short due to a hip injury.


9:46 p.m. ET: The Miami Heat and shooting guard Wayne Ellington agreed to a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Chris Haynes. Ellington made a career-high 227 3s for the Heat last season, and his return means that Miami's top ten players in terms of regular minutes played last season are under contract for the 2018-19 season.


2:04 p.m. ET: The Washington Wizards have announced the signing of center Dwight Howard. Howard and the Brooklyn Nets finalized a buyout on July 6, clearing the way for the three-time Defensive Player of the Year to join John Wall in Washington.

July 11 update

5:55 p.m. ET: Free-agent forward James Ennis has agreed to a two-year deal with the Houston Rockets, Yahoo! Sports reported. Ennis, 28, spent last season with the Memphis Grizzlies and Detroit Pistons.

July 10 updates

4:50 p.m. ET: Restricted free-agent point guard Marcus Smart met with two teams Monday in Las Vegas and plans to meet with two more teams on Tuesday, The Boston Globe reported. The Boston Celtics extended a $6.1 million qualifying offer to Smart on June 28.


3:35 p.m. ET: In advance of an inevitable -- if not imminent -- parting, the Oklahoma City Thunder granted Carmelo Anthony permission to meet with prospective teams, including the Houston Rockets and Miami Heat, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Anthony and his representatives met with Rockets and Heat officials in Las Vegas in recent days, league sources told ESPN.


11:57 a.m. ET: The Houston Rockets and restricted free agent Clint Capela remain at a standstill after Houston's initial offer was well shy of the big man's expectations. Sources told ESPN's Tim MacMahon that the offer was in the four-year, $60 million range, with the 24-year-old center seeking a deal similar to Steven Adams' four-year, $100 million contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

July 9 updates

6:14 p.m. ET: The Houston Rockets lost small forwards Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute in free agency, and ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Houston is "determined" to sign forward Carmelo Anthony. The Oklahoma City Thunder will reportedly cut ties with Anthony this summer.


6:08 p.m. ET: The LA Clippers and small forward Luc Mbah a Moute have agreed to a one-year deal, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Mbah a Moute spent the 2017-18 season with the Houston Rockets. Prior to that, he started 137 games for the Clippers from 2015 to 2017.


1:21 p.m. ET: Joakim Noah's future with the New York Knicks remains unclear, but the veteran center wants to remain with the club. "I love New York," Noah said when asked during a brief interview with TMZ Sports if he wants to stay with the Knicks. Noah has two years remaining on a four-year, $72 million contract.

July 8 updates

8:31 p.m. ET: The San Antonio Spurs have decided to decline matching Kyle Anderson's four-year, $37 million offer sheet with the Memphis Grizzlies, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Anderson is likely to become the Grizzlies' starting small forward.


3:54 p.m. ET: Free-agent center Zaza Pachulia has agreed to a one-year, $2.4 million contract with the Detroit Pistons, according to multiple reports.


3:28 p.m. ET: Free-agent center Brook Lopez has agreed to a one-year, $3.4 million deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, league sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes. Lopez, 30, averaged 13.0 points and 4.0 rebounds last season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

July 7 updates

11:14 p.m. ET: Suns guard Devin Booker signed a five-year, $158 million maximum contract extension with Phoenix. The team announced the completion of the deal. Booker averaged 24.9 PPG for the Suns last season.


9:04 p.m. ET: The Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls and Orlando Magic have agreed to a three-team deal that will send Timofey Mozgov and Jerian Grant to the Magic, Bismack Biyombo to the Hornets and Julyan Stone to the Bulls, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.


12:06 p.m. ET: Nine-year veteran forward Jonas Jerebko has been waived by the Utah Jazz two days before his $4.2 million salary for 2018-19 would have become guaranteed. Jerebko, who averaged 5.8 PPG in 74 games for Utah last season, plans to sign with the Golden State Warriors once he clears waivers, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

July 6 updates

11:10 p.m. ET: Restricted free-agent center Jusuf Nurkic has agreed to a four-year, $48 million deal to stay with the Portland Trail Blazers, a league source told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal includes a partial guarantee in the fourth year.


9:55 p.m. ET: The Chicago Bulls have decided to match the Sacramento Kings' four-year, $78 million offer sheet to restricted free agent Zach LaVine, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Bulls have 48 hours to match the offer sheet and plan to do so before the deadline.


8:58 p.m. ET: Restricted free-agent forward Kyle Anderson has signed a four-year, $37.2 million offer sheet with the Memphis Grizzlies, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The San Antonio Spurs have 48 hours to match the offer, which includes a 15 percent trade kicker, league sources said.


7:58 p.m. ET: The Sacramento Kings signed Chicago Bulls restricted free-agent guard Zach LaVine to a four-year, $78 million offer sheet, sources told The Undefeated's Marc Spears. The Bulls have two days to match it if they want to retain him.


5:20 p.m. ET: The Brooklyn Nets have finalized a contract buyout with center Dwight Howard, clearing the way for him to sign a two-year, $11 million free-agent deal with the Washington Wizards, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal with the Wizards will include a player option, sources said.


3:29 p.m. ET: Free-agent guard Tony Parker has agreed to a two-year, $10 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets, a league source told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, bringing to a close his 17-year career with the San Antonio Spurs.


12:23 p.m. ET: As the Oklahoma City Thunder navigate a historic $310 million payroll and luxury-tax bill, the team will part ways at some point this summer with Carmelo Anthony, league sources told ESPN. The move -- which could be done via trade, the NBA's stretch provision or a combined buyout and stretch -- could provide the Thunder more than $100 million in cost savings.


11:51 a.m. ET: Center Kyle O'Quinn has agreed to a one-year, $4.5 million contract with the Indiana Pacers, a source told ESPN's Chris Haynes. O'Quinn, who averaged 7.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game last season, played the past three seasons with the New York Knicks.

2:10 p.m. ET: Free-agent guard Isaiah Briscoe has agreed to a deal with the Orlando Magic, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Briscoe, who worked his way back onto the NBA radar with an outstanding season in Estonia, recently impressed in a team minicamp.


10:35 a.m. ET: Free-agent forward Nemanja Bjelica has agreed to a one-year, $4.4 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Bjelica, 30, spent the past three seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

July 4 updates

4:11 p.m. ET: The Philadelphia 76ers will re-sign veteran big man Amir Johnson to a one-year deal, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Sixers coach Brett Brown -- now the interim president of basketball operations -- considers Johnson an important culture-builder with his young core, Wojnarowski reports.


12:55 a.m. ET: The Oklahoma City Thunder will re-sign backup point guard Raymond Felton to a one-year, $2.4 million contract, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Felton will be entering his 14th NBA season.

July 3 updates

8:03 p.m. ET: The Golden State Warriors will retain power forward Kevon Looney on a one-year, minimum contract, according to a report by ESPN's Chris Haynes. Looney started five games in the 2018 postseason for the Warriors after starting only four games during the regular season.


7:30 p.m. ET: ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Phoenix Suns and shooting guard Devin Booker are close to finalizing a four-year max contract extension. Booker was the 13th pick in the 2015 NBA draft.


6:05 p.m. ET: Utah Jazz restricted free-agent guard Dante Exum has agreed to a three-year, $33 million contract extension, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.


5:28 p.m. ET: Dwight Howard has finalized a buyout with the Brooklyn Nets and will sign a one-year deal with the Washington Wizards, The Athletic reports.


4:48 p.m. ET: Utah Jazz point guard Raul Neto has agreed to a two-year contract extension, a league source told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.


4:28 p.m. ET: The Denver Nuggets have traded forward Wilson Chandler and draft considerations to the Philadelphia 76ers, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Trading Chandler to Philadelphia will save Denver $50 million in combined salary and luxury tax, according to ESPN NBA Insider Bobby Marks.


4:15 p.m. ET: Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving and Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Jimmy Butler are trying to find a way to play together, according to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times. Both players are eligible for free agency next summer.

4:39 p.m. ET: The Phoenix Suns have waived point guard Tyler Ulis, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Ulis' $1.5 million salary for next season would have become guaranteed on Sunday if the team did not release him. Suns general manager Ryan McDonough said Friday that the team was looking to acquire a point guard in free agency.


1:41 p.m. ET: LeBron James' camp and the Cleveland Cavaliers front office have maintained a dialogue since the end of the season, but the two sides will not have a face-to-face meeting when free agency opens at 12:01 a.m. ET, sources told ESPN. It is unclear at this point if an in-person meeting between James and the Cavs has been scheduled for down the line.

7:32 p.m. ET: The Dallas Mavericks will decline the team option of the final year of power forward Dirk Nowitzki's contract, a source confirmed to ESPN's Tim MacMahon. This was a mutual decision as the Mavericks plan to pursue LA Clippers center DeAndre Jordan in free agency; Dallas plans to re-sign Nowitzki as well.


6:43 p.m. ET: DeAndre Jordan will not pick up the option of the final year of his four-year, $87.6 million contract with the LA Clippers, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. This clears the way for Jordan to begin negotiations with the Dallas Mavericks as a free agent. The Mavs had previously explored trade options for the Clippers big man had Jordan opted to play the final year of his deal.


12:32 p.m. ET: LeBron James will not pick up the player option on the final year of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers and will become an unrestricted free agent, according to ESPN and multiple reports, though it doesn't necessarily mean he's leaving. Because of the difficulty of completing a sign-and-trade deal, James opting out actually limits his options for leaving the Cavs to teams with cap space to sign him outright, leaving LeBron's likely outcomes as joining either the Los Angeles Lakers or Philadelphia 76ers or returning to Cleveland.

June 28 updates

1:44 p.m. ET: The Dallas Mavericks have made center DeAndre Jordan their primary target as free agency nears, league sources told ESPN. Jordan, who infamously spurned the Mavs in 2015 free agency after making an oral commitment to come to Dallas, has a deadline of 11:59 p.m. ET Friday to decide whether to opt in to the final season of his contract that would pay him $24.1 million.


12:54 p.m. ET: New York Knicks center Enes Kanter is leaning heavily toward exercising his $18.6 million player option for 2018-19, sources told ESPN's Ian Begley. Kanter will continue to survey the market until his Friday deadline, sources said, but barring an unforeseen significant change, he will opt in.


12:10 p.m. ET: The San Antonio Spurs are fully engaged in trade talks with several teams on Kawhi Leonard, including the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Spurs have wanted to find a way to repair the franchise's relationship with Leonard, but an overwhelming Lakers offer could convince San Antonio to part with its franchise star, league sources said.


7:10 p.m. ET: The Cleveland Cavaliers will pick up the $2.5 million team option on Kendrick Perkins' contract for 2018-19. The decision is a salary-cap ploy to try to aggregate the veteran center's salary along with an existing contract to pursue a trade around the league, multiple league sources told ESPN's Dave McMenamin.


5:07 p.m. ET: The Cleveland Cavaliers will extend a $3.4 million qualifying offer to restricted free-agent forward Rodney Hood ahead of Friday's midnight deadline, according to multiple reports. Hood, 25, came to Cleveland from Utah in the flurry of moves executed at the trade deadline by Cavs general manager Koby Altman.


4:35 p.m. ET: The Los Angeles Lakers have extended a $5.6 million qualifying offer to forward Julius Randle, making him a restricted free agent, the Associated Press reported. The Lakers will have the option to match any offer sheet Randle signs from another team, but his future in L.A. remains unclear, as the franchise has lofty aspirations in free agency.

1 p.m. ET: Atlanta Hawks forward Mike Muscala has exercised his $5 million player option, a source told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Muscala, who turns 27 on July 1, averaged 7.6 points and 4.3 rebounds last season for the Hawks. Atlanta is now projected to enter the offseason with $20 million in available cap space, according to ESPN Front Office Insider Bobby Marks.


12:40 p.m. ET: With the deadline passing Saturday, Carmelo Anthony did not exercise the early termination option on the final year of his contract to join the 2018 free-agent class. Anthony, officially a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder again next season, will earn $27.9 million in 2018-19 to complete the five-year, $120 million contract he signed with the New York Knicks in 2014.

Buford stated the franchise's desire to keep disgruntled All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard in the fold Thursday after the NBA draft but said the club "will explore all of our options." 4:51 p.m. ET: The Los Angeles Lakers contacted the San Antonio Spurs after Kawhi Leonard's public trade request last week but immediately felt the Spurs had no intention of engaging in any dialogue, sources close to the situation told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. 4:33 p.m. ET: Dwight Howard and the Brooklyn Nets have mutually agreed to enter into buyout talks for his $23.8 million expiring contract. Howard, 32, would then enter free agency this summer. 9:48 a.m. ET: The Charlotte Hornets have agreed to send center Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets for center Timofey Mozgov, two future second-round picks and cash, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Hornets will receive the Nets' second-round pick (No. 45) in Thursday's NBA draft and a 2021 second-round pick, league sources said.


7:41 a.m. ET: San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich traveled to Southern California on Tuesday and met with Kawhi Leonard, league sources told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne and Adrian Wojnarowski. 8:45 a.m. ET: League sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes that Warriors All-Star forward Draymond Green will turn down Golden State's three-year, $72 million extension when it's offered. That's because if he earns MVP, Defensive Player of the Year or All-NBA Team honors next season, he will be eligible for a super-max contract of five years, $226 million.

5:14 p.m. ET: Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving said Tuesday that a contract extension this summer doesn't make sense for him, and his sole focus is on getting healthy for next season and helping Boston take another step toward title contention.


4:55 p.m. ET: Two-time reigning Finals MVP Kevin Durant could sign for as long as four years and about $160 million this offseason, and Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers is prepared to give him "whatever he wants."


3:45 p.m. ET: Jodie Meeks exercised his $3.5 million contract option to return to the Washington Wizards for the 2018-19 season, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Meeks will serve the remaining 19 games of a 25-game suspension for violating the NBA's anti-drug policy to start the season. Meeks, 30, played 77 games for the Wizards last season, averaging 14.5 minutes and 6.3 points a game.


10:15 a.m. ET: Indiana Pacers forward Thaddeus Young is seriously contemplating declining his $13.7 million player option for the 2018-19 season and becoming an unrestricted free agent, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Young, 29, has until June 29 to make a decision on the option.
