Sources: Bucks add shooting with Matthews deal

Free-agent guard Wesley Matthews has agreed to a one-year deal to join the Milwaukee Bucks, league sources tell ESPN.

Matthews was a pursued player at the league's veteran minimum among contenders, and returns to his Wisconsin roots to assume a role as part of the Bucks bench. Milwaukee general manager Jon Horst -- the NBA's Executive of the Year -- is reshaping the bench for the Bucks, who had the best record in the NBA this past season.

Milwaukee secured center Robin Lopez to join his brother Brook in Sunday's start to free agency. The Bucks lost guard Malcolm Brogdon as a free agent to the Pacers on Sunday.

Matthews, 32, has averaged 13.7 points in his decade in the NBA, including stops with Utah, Portland, Dallas, New York and Indiana. Matthews averaged 10.9 points in 23 games with the Pacers last season.

Matthews played his college ball at Marquette in Milwaukee in the late 2000s before building a career as an undrafted player in the NBA.
