The sneaker
For a brief moment in the '80s, there was a chance Michael Jordan was going to leave Nike. Then the Air Jordan III came out and the rest is (very lucrative) history. After a disappointing release with the Jordan 2, the III took the burgeoning line to another level. It introduced the Jumpman logo, which is now one of the most recognizable in the world, and it was the pair on MJ's feet when he dueled against Dominique Wilkins to win the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest in Chicago. -- Adam Reisinger
