EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- The Los Angeles Chargers will be significantly shorthanded heading into Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Linebackers Joey Bosa (hip) and Junior Colson (hamstring), and offensive tackle Rashawn Slater (pectoral) were ruled out Friday.
In addition, quarterback Justin Herbert (ankle), offensive tackle Joe Alt (knee), receiver Derius Davis (hamstring) and cornerbacks Kristian Fulton (knee), Deane Leonard (hamstring) and Ja'Sir Taylor (fibula) all are questionable.
And those all come after star safety Derwin James Jr. was suspended for the game by the NFL earlier this week for "repeated violations of playing rules."
Much of the focus has been on Herbert, who aggravated a high right ankle sprain in the Chargers' Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Herbert said earlier in the week he was doing "everything" he could to play Sunday and felt better than he did heading into the Steelers game.
Herbert was limited in practice all week.
"[He] said he felt better today than he did last Friday and was able to do some things today," Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said.
The lengthy injury report is somewhat of a nightmare for the Chargers ahead of a divisional matchup against the defending champion and undefeated Chiefs. Still, Harbaugh said his confidence wasn't wavering -- at least publicly.
"It's an opportunity to step up, be strong and be tough, be counted on and [to] be a stalwart," he said.
In positive news for the Chargers, receiver Joshua Palmer is off the injury report after sitting out the Steelers game because of an elbow injury.
