Elizabeth Williams of the Atlanta Dream was named the 2016 WNBA Most Improved Player on Wednesday, the league announced.
A second-year player who was the fourth pick in last year's WNBA draft, Williams averaged 11.9 points and 8.1 rebounds this regular season, up from 3.3 PPG and 3.2 RPG a year ago.
This summer, she ranked fifth in the league in rebounds and second in blocks at 2.3 per game, while starting all 34 games for the Dream, who host the Seattle Storm in a single-elimination, first-round playoff game on Wednesday (ESPNEWS, 8 p.m. ET).
Williams, a 6-foot-3 forward/center, was an All-American at Duke.
