Iowa State's Bill Fennelly dismissed from discrimination lawsuit filed by ex-star

Iowa State women's basketball coach Bill Fennelly is no longer a defendant in a lawsuit that was filed last year by former Cyclones guard Nikki Moody, according to the Des Moines Register.

Moody sued Fennelly, Iowa State and the state of Iowa alleging racial discrimination and retaliation she said took place during her time playing for the Cyclones from 2011-15. Iowa State was notified Monday by the state's attorney general's office that Fennelly had been dismissed from the lawsuit. The claims against Iowa State are still being adjudicated.

Fennelly's contract already had been extended by the school on March 24. It added three years on to the previous deal and put him under contract through June 2022. Iowa State advanced to the NCAA tournament for the 17th time in Fennelly's career this season; he took over the program in 1995

"It's a very positive development for a lot of reasons, obviously," Fennelly told the Register. "I'm just very, very grateful, thankful, blessed -- whatever word you want to fill in the blank -- with the amazing support that I've gotten from everyone."
