UConn vs. Louisville set for Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase

UConn and Louisville will play in the marquee matchup of this year's Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase after their 2020 game was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Thursday announced the field for the eighth annual showcase, which is set for Dec. 19 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Along with UConn and Louisville, Michigan will take on Baylor in the Bears' first announced game for first-year coach Nicki Collen.

The Huskies and Cardinals played regularly when both were in the American Athletic Conference and met for the national championship in 2013 -- a game UConn won 93-60 to capture its eighth title.

Their last meeting was during the 2018-19 season, with Louisville winning a matchup of top-three teams. UConn holds an 18-2 lead in the series.

"After being unable to play UConn last season as we had hoped, we are thrilled we are able to continue our rivalry," Louisville coach Jeff Walz said in a statement.

UConn coach Geno Auriemma said: "Our fans didn't have an opportunity to see this team in person last season, so I think it'll be a great experience for them and for our players."
