Injured Olivia Miles looks on as Notre Dame advances at ACCs

Notre Dame star guard Olivia Miles is out indefinitely with a knee injury and watched from the sideline as the Fighting Irish grinded out a 66-60 win Friday over NC State to advance to the ACC tournament semifinals in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Top-seeded Notre Dame will face No. 4 Louisville on Saturday at noon. The Irish went 2-0 against the Cardinals during the regular season.

Notre Dame confirmed to ESPN on Friday that it will know more about the status of Miles, an all-ACC First Team selection as a sophomore, next week following further evaluation on her right knee. Miles, who leads the team with 14.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 2.1 steals per game, suffered the injury in the Irish's regular-season finale at Louisville.

The Irish rallied to take down the Cardinals without their engine, the latest occurrence in a string of bad injury luck in South Bend. Dara Mabrey is out for the season with an ACL injury and tibial plateau fracture, while fellow graduate student Lauren Ebo also missed time with a lower-body injury.

Miles made the trip with the team to Greensboro and was on the bench for Friday's game. It appeared she wasn't walking particularly well.

Stepping up in the absence of Miles has been fellow sophomore Sonia Citron, who collected 28 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists Friday. Citron became the first Fighting Irish player with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in a conference tournament game since 2000.

Coach Niele Ivey, in her third season at Notre Dame, is hoping to guide the team to its first ACC tournament title since 2019.
