Scottie Thompson will remain with Barangay Ginebra for the foreseeable future after reportedly inking a three-year contract extension on Thursday.
Thompson himself also announced the development on his social media accounts. Spin.ph first reported the deal.
The deal will keep Thompson from being an unrestricted free agent next year and will keep him with Ginebra until 2025.
Drafted with the Gin Kings' fifth overall pick in 2015, Thompson immediately endeared himself to the franchise's fans as one of the team's most effective and hard-working players.
The 27-year-old Thompson is a five-time champion and a four-time All-Star with Ginebra. His resume includes one Finals MVP, which he earned in the 2018 Commissioner's Cup.
Thompson won his fifth title with Ginebra in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup, where he averaged 11.0 points on 43.9 percent shooting, 8.8 rebounds, a league-high 5.8 assists and 1.0 steals in 36.5 minutes per contest and 22 games.
His PBA bubble stint with Ginebra also produced an all-important moment in recent Gin Kings history: a buzzer-beater in Game 5 of the semifinals to send his side past Meralco in the do-or-die game and into the best-of-seven finals against TNT Tropang Giga.
