Pac-12 Top 25 for 2013: No. 5

Our countdown of the Pac-12’s Top 25 players from the 2013 season continues.

You can review our 2013 preseason Top 25 here.

No. 5: Bishop Sankey, RB, Washington

2013 numbers: Sankey rushed for 1,870 yards on 327 carries (5.7 average) with 20 touchdowns and an average of 143.8 yards per game. He also caught 28 balls for 304 yards and a score.

Preseason ranking: No. 15

Making the case for Sankey: The Doak Walker Award finalist leaves with a slew of records to his name -- including UW’s single-season rushing record, single-season yards per game average and career rushing touchdowns (37). Once a by-committee guy, Sankey took over the starting role after Jesse Callier was injured in the 2012 season opener, and he hasn’t looked back. Only three FBS running backs (and one quarterback) have rushed for more than 3,000 yards in the past two seasons. Sankey is one of them. In 2013, he was fourth nationally in carries, third in rushing yards (among running backs) and fourth in rushing touchdowns. He finished second in the league in rushing yards per game and rushing touchdowns. He was a first-team all-conference selection and a second-team All-American by the AP, the FWAA and Walter Camp. He leaves as one of Washington's most celebrated backs and has every skill needed to be successful at the next level.
