Only a week after finishing ninth in the seven-card stud world championship, Jeffrey Lisandro rebounded to defeat a field of 359 players to win Event 16, the $1,500 seven-card stud event. For Lisandro, one of the most recognizable players in the game, this was his second bracelet. He collected $124,975 for the victory.
After Monday night's victory, Lisandro now has 27 lifetime WSOP cashes, 10 final table appearances and $3.3 million in career earnings with $1.9 million coming from WSOP successes.
The final table lineup in this event was extremely talented. Lisandro, who entered the final table as the chip leader, would need to fend off John Juanda, Nick Frangos and then Rod Pardey Sr. heads-up to win the bracelet. With the victory, Lisandro actually tied Pardey Sr. in one respect by winning his second seven-card stud bracelet. Pardey won his two bracelets in 1984 and 1989, and both players sit behind Artie Cobb, who has three stud bracelets.
In a very unusual situation, Pardey Sr. was joined by another Pardey at the final table. His nephew Eric, a poker dealer from Washington, also reached the final table, finishing in sixth place.
Juanda, the WSOP Europe main event champion and four-time bracelet winner, finished in fifth place and made his 44th cash in this event. He is tied for 12th all-time in that category with Dewey Tomko.
Other notable finishers include Thor Hansen (ninth), John Cernuto (11th) and Jason Mercier (16th).
