Asian football giants Al Hilal have announced the departure of talismanic playmaker Sebastian Giovinco following a mutual termination of his contract.

Giovinco, who rose to prominence as a hot prospect coming through the ranks of Serie A giants Juventus, spent the last three seasons at Al Hilal with much success.

In addition to winning two Saudi Professional League titles and a domestic cup, the Italian attacker was a key member of the side that won the AFC Champions League in 2019 -- as his side became the first West Asian team to win the continental crown in eight years.

Once regarded as the heir to the legendary Alessandro Del Piero at Juventus, Giovinco also featured for Parma and Empoli on loan, and then went on to achieve great success in Major League Soccer with Toronto FC.

An MLS All-Star for four consecutive years between 2015 and 2018, Giovinco also took home the Most Valuable Player prize in his first season with Toronto and also helped them to their first and only MLS Cup to date in 2017.
