Italian FA president Carlo Tavecchio calls for use of television replays

ROME -- The president of the Italian football federation plans to write to FIFA to ask for the use of television replays for some refereeing decisions.

Carlo Tavecchio's announcement comes the day after Juventus recorded a controversial 3-2 victory over Serie A rival Roma.

On Monday, Tavecchio says he intends to "initiate a request to FIFA in order to accelerate the process that provides for the introduction of technology to resolve doubtful cases in the positioning of an incident on the edge of the penalty area."

Juventus was awarded two disputed penalties in the heated clash, while the winning goal was also offside.

Tavecchio adds that he will also offer the use of the Italian league "for a possible trial."
