Chelsea have launched a bid for FC Tokyo striker Yoshinori Muto, according to the club's president Naoki Ogane.
Muto, 22, who only graduated from university last month has an impressive record in the J-League, having scored 13 goals last season, and he has already notched up three in five this term.
The striker has been attracting attention from many clubs across Europe and Ogane has confirmed that the London club have put in a bid for Muto for a fee reported to be in the £4 million region.
"It is true that Chelsea sent us an offer for Muto," Ogane told Sports Nippon. "It is a formal offer with conditions. They want to acquire him in the summer."
The Japan international, who has one goal in 11 caps, also admitted he is flattered by Chelsea's interest, saying: "I have not decided yet at all. It is an honour for me to receive this offer from a great club."
