Immobile, 24, has been in prolific goalscoring form for Torino this season, netting 21 times in Serie A to help the side to sixth in the table.
Dortmund could look to bolster their frontline this summer as Robert Lewandowski is joining Bayern Munich, and Watzke has added to speculation that Immobile could be targeted.
"I can only confirm that the player Immobile really wants to join us," Watzke told reporters, according to Reuters.
"That is all there is to be said on this. If everything was settled then we would have announced it."
