PSG women snap Lyon's 80-game unbeaten streak in first league loss since 2016

Paris Saint-Germain handed Lyon their first women's first division defeat in almost four years when Marie-Antoinette Katoto earned them a 1-0 home win on Friday.

Katoto found the back of the net after 10 minutes to put PSG on top of the standings on 25 points from nine games, one ahead of Lyon, who had their 80-match unbeaten streak ended.

"We did nothing, PSG deserve the victory. We didn't win a duel in the first half, we were afraid to play," Lyon captain Wendie Renard said afterward.

It was seven-times European champions Lyon's first loss in the first division since Dec. 12, 2016.

"We had the heart to beat Lyon, it has been a long time since they had lost so today I am happy for the team," PSG's Kadidiatou Diani said after the match.

However, Katoto and Lyon's Eugenie Le Sommer both sustained injuries that could rule the France internationals out of next week's decisive Euro 2022 qualifier against Austria.
