Aymen Abdennour keen to stay at Valencia despite Chelsea interest

Aymen Abdennour, a reported target for Chelsea and Everton, has told footmercato.net he will not move to the Premier League in January as he attempts to help Valencia get back on track.

Abdennour, 27 -- who described the Blues and Everton as "two very good clubs" -- said he did not want to leave while Valencia were struggling just above La Liga's relegation zone.

The Tunisia international centre-back, rated at €10 million, said he would be interested in playing in the Premier League or Serie A at some point.

"I've played in Germany at Werder Bremen, and in France at Toulouse and Monaco," he said.

"Right now, I'm playing in Spain. I have never played in Italy or England. They're two leagues I'm interested in.

"I follow the English league. Everton and Chelsea are two very good clubs. Last year, I heard there was contact with Valencia.

"I didn't bother myself with that. In the end, my club told me to stay, which is what I did. I train full on and I'm pro."

Abdennour is under contract at the Mestalla until 2020 and said he was pleased that other clubs were interested in him.

But he added: "I want to stay in Valencia. I don't want to leave my club in a bad position in the table. I want to go very far with Valencia.

"If I have to leave, I hope it will be for another big club."
