Norwich City midfielder Alex Tettey is set to miss the remainder of the season with an ankle ligament injury, which will require surgery, manager Alex Neil has said.
Tettey was injured in the 36th minute of Norwich's 2-1 Premier League defeat to Chelsea at Carrow Road on Tuesday after clashing with Eden Hazard.
"Alex has hurt his ankle ligaments; he did it in the past and he needed an operation on his other foot," said Norwich manager Alex Neil.
"He's re-injured his other leg and unfortunately he's going to need to have an operation and he's probably going to miss the rest of the season.
"He had an X-ray as soon as he came off the pitch and a scan the morning after and it's quite conclusive that he needs an operation to correct it.
"It's not good news, Alex has played most of the games that we've had, but we've got strength in numbers and depth in that area so it will be somebody else's chance to come in and play."
Tettey has started 23 of Norwich's 28 Premier League games this season, scoring twice for the Canaries.
