It may have gone somewhat under the radar, but East Kilbride's 3-1 victory over BSC Glasgow in the Scottish Lowland League was a truly monumental one.
The result saw East Kilbride extend their winning run to a mammoth 27 games, thus surpassing Ajax's long-standing world record of 26 consecutive victories.

As such, an Ajax-branded van drove onto the pitch at full-time laden with 27 crates of complimentary beer and a special video message from the Dutch club's marketing director, Edwin van der Sar.

Ajax's record dates from the 1971-72 season when a team inspired by Johan Cruyff powered their way to 26 wins on the bounce between October and March -- 19 Eredivisie games, four European Cup matches and three rounds of the Dutch Cup.
Sadly for East Kilbride, their amazing feat will not be formally recognised as a Guinness World Record as their run didn't take place in a top European league.
