Spanish defender Coke has signed a three-year contract with Schalke after they reached an agreement with Sevilla over a reported €5 million transfer.
The Bundesliga club confirmed the completion of the transfer on their website on Wednesday, after Coke had already bid an emotional farewell to Sevilla.
"Coke is a very good defensive player with a wealth of international experience,'' said Schalke's director of sport Christian Heidel.
"To win the Europa League three times in a row is a remarkable achievement.
"As a lead figure, he will also be very important for the whole structure of our team.''

Coke, who will wear the number 23 shirt in Gelsenkirchen, will have the opportunity to defend that Europa League crown with different colours this season, with Schalke already assured of their place in the group stage.
He joined Sevilla in 2011 and was on target twice in their Europa League final victory over Liverpool in Basle earlier this year.
