Bayern's Carlo Ancelotti: Taking off Arjen Robben for a sub is not an issue

Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti said he has no problem with Arjen Robben, despite taking the Netherlands skipper off for the second straight game as the league leaders could only draw 1-1 at home to Hoffenheim on Saturday.

Bayern went behind on 16 minutes following Kerem Demibray's fantastic opener on 16 minutes, but equalised when Hoffenheim defender Steven Zuber turned the ball into his own net just after half hour mark.

An "angry and disappointed" Robben was also substituted in the Champions League in midweek against PSV with the game in the balance, before Robert Lewandowski fired a late winner.

In Saturday's Bundesliga top-of-the-table clash, Ancelotti replaced Robben with Kingsley Coman for the final 12 minutes as Bayern went in search of the winner.

Robben avoided eye contact and failed to acknowledge Ancelotti as he departed the pitch, but Ancelotti told Sky Deutschland after the final whistle: "Robben played really well for 70 minutes but I wanted to bring a fresh player.

"Every time I take off Arjen Robben, people think there's a problem. But there isn't one -- only for the press."

Asked about Robben's lack of acknowledgement, Ancelotti responded: "It isn't a problem at all. We shook hands after the game."

German internationals Mats Hummels and substitute Thomas Muller both hit the post in the dying minutes as Bayern did everything but score the winner in the final minutes.

"We knew before the game that Hoffenheim are having a good season and are a good team," Ancelotti said.

"We were taken by surprise in the first half, but we played really well after that and created a lot of opportunities to score.

"We deserved to win in the end, but were unlucky. These things can happen in football."
