Hull's Will Keane facing a year on the sidelines with knee ligament injury

Hull City striker Will Keane has been ruled out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage.

Keane picked up the injury in the Tigers' 2-1 win over Southampton on Nov. 6 and was set to undergo surgery on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old, who joined Hull from Manchester United in August, is expected to be sidelined for up to 12 months.

"Everybody at the club wishes Will well for a full recovery ahead of what is going to be a long road back to action," Hull boss Mike Phelan told the club's official website.

"To lose a player of Will's quality and potential for such a long period of time is a big blow, but I'm sure his determination and mindset will see him through the tough journey ahead."

Keane's injury is another major setback for the Tigers, with fellow striker Abel Hernandez also ruled out for at least three more weeks with a groin injury.

Keane has made six appearances for Hull this season but has still yet to score his first goal for the club.
