Atletico Madrid captain Gabi is set to have surgery on Tuesday after the club confirmed he had broken two fingers.
Multiple reports in Spain have said Gabi was injured in a "domestic accident."
A statement on Atletico's website read: "Gabriel Fernandez, Gabi, has undergone tests that have confirmed that he suffered a metacarpal fracture that affects the fourth and fifth metacarpal of the right hand.
"Due to this injury our captain will undergo surgery on Tuesday to reduce the fracture and fix it in a stable way."
Gabi played on Sunday with his hand in bandages and is a doubt for the weekend's clash at Granada.
He is already suspended for next week's second leg of Atletico's Champions League round-of-16 clash against Bayer Leverkusen.
