MANCHESTER -- Willy Caballero wants to stay at Manchester City but he still doesn't know if he will be offered a new deal at the end of the season.
The Argentinean goalkeeper is one of six senior players whose contracts run out at the end of the season and the club is still to make any official offers to the players.
Caballero, 35, is set to play in City's three final matches, with Claudio Bravo ruled out for the season, and he is determined to take the opportunity to impress manager Pep Guardiola.
"I have been focused in the last eight months when Pep arrived here and I have been professional from the first day," he told reporters. "Now I have an opportunity to play and a big opportunity to be in goal and try to qualify this club [for the Champions League], after that we see what happens.
"Of course, it's an amazing team and club with fantastic players so I think every player wants to stay in my position.
"It depends on a lot of things but the most important thing for me is to do my best, I have my opportunity to play now and to try to show what I can do and how I can help the team. I have to keep going, and after we will speak with the club and my agent."
Caballero would give his hopes of a new deal a big boost if he can help City secure Champions League football next season.
While City were dominant on Saturday with a 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace, Caballero was still called upon to make a crucial save from Christian Benteke, which would made it 1-1 just before half-time.
"We have now our target is to finish in the champions league position, we have to go step-by-step and we took the first step on Saturday," he added.
"The club and Pep have a lot of things to fix or to buy players but it's in our hands now we have to try to win the next game and try to qualify.
"Of course, we are now in a very good position but we have to do our job, we did it well, and after we can see the rest of the games from every team.
"But the most important thing is when we do it well, we performed well against Palace but we have to do it two or three more times."
