D.C. United parted ways with forward Jose Guillermo Ortiz on Monday after the cancellation of his loan deal.
Ortiz, 25, moved to MLS on loan from Costa Rican club Herediano in December. He made 16 appearances for United this season, scoring once.
His brief MLS career was most notable for being sanctioned by the league for diving two times in as many weeks in May.

The second dive earned D.C. a penalty that proved to be the difference in a 1-0 win over Vancouver, but it earned him a one-game ban.
"We want to thank Jose for his contributions to the Black-and-Red and wish him the best of luck," United general manager Dave Kasper said in a statement.
In a separate move on Monday, D.C. acquired $50,000 in general allocation money from Columbus Crew SC in exchange for the use of an international roster spot this season.
