NY Red Bulls' Luis Robles out Sunday, ending MLS-record starts streak

HARRISON, N.J. -- The New York Red Bulls have announced that Luis Robles' MLS-record streak of 183 consecutive starts will end on Sunday.

Robles, 34, has a knee injury that will keep him out of the Red Bulls' match against Atlanta United, ending a streak of starts that stretched across nearly six seasons.

The streak began late in the 2012 season and spanned 16,470 minutes, with 86 wins and 52 shutouts.

Robles set a new league record for consecutive starts in 2016 with No. 119 against New York City FC. He broke Kevin Hartmann's league record of 112 complete games against Colorado that season.

The Red Bulls' captain was hurt last week against the Colorado Rapids and his status is week to week.

Ryan Meara will replace Robles in goal. Evan Louro is the backup.
