Sydney FC star Milos Ninkovic is aiming to reveal over the next fortnight whether he'll make a stunning switch to A-League newcomers Macarthur FC next season.
Ninkovic confirmed an offer has been put on the table by the league's next franchise to become a part of their inaugural squad. And the former Johnny Warren medallist is seriously contemplating the move.
Moments after helping steer the Sky Blues to a 5-1 rout of Brisbane, Ninkovic stunned Sky Blues fans by leaving the door open for a shock departure.
"Yeah, I've got the offer from the new club," Ninkovic told Fox Sports. "I just want to be focused on the pitch -- I'm still Sydney FC player. I've said many times that I would like to end my career here but you never know.
"You never know what can happen tomorrow."
Ninkovic proved why he is still rated one of the best players in the league with a goal and assist against the Roar at Jubilee Oval.
It's why the Macarthur are reported to have offered him a lucrative two-year deal, with the option for a third, to leave the defending champions.
At 34, and with Sydney FC believed to be in a salary cap squeeze, Ninkovic may have little option but to accept the deal. The Serbian suggested a decision could be imminent.
"To be honest, it's best for myself, for my teammates, I think for everyone, to decide as soon as possible," Ninkovic said.
"I don't want to wait [until] January or February.
"It's very best for me to make decision in next two weeks because I want to just be focused on the game. That's the only thing I want now."
Sydney FC coach Steve Corica was pleased with his team's ruthlessness against the Roar, which included three goals in an impressive first-half display.
The victory extends their lead atop the table to five points.
"There's still improvement. The boys are doing a fantastic job. It was important we get the three points to extend our lead at the top," Corica said.
"They're enjoying their football, scoring goals and working hard for each other."
The victory against the Roar came without injured duo Brandon O'Neill [knee] and Michael Zullo [calf], however both are expected to be back next week.
