Tiger Woods hasn't said whether he will compete in the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass -- the so-called fifth major -- later this month, but he will be making at least one start in Florida.
Woods, 48, is scheduled to play in Monday's prestigious Seminole pro-member tournament at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Florida. It will be Woods' first appearance in the event.
According to a tee sheet posted on X by 5 Clubs Golf, the 15-time major championship winner is scheduled to play with PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh, Justin Thomas and Mike Walrath, CEO of the software company Yext.
The field for the 18-hole event also includes Rory McIlroy and his father, Gerry; former NFL quarterback Tom Brady; Seminoles Golf Club president and PGA Tour policy board independent director Jimmy Dunne III; MLB commissioner Rob Manfred; LPGA star Nelly Korda; and PGA Tour players Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Matt Fitzpatrick, Collin Morikawa and Cameron Young.
For the second year in a row, the field does not include LIV Golf League players.
On Feb. 16, Woods withdrew from the second round of the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club outside Los Angeles because of illness, which was later confirmed to be influenza. He received IV bags and was treated by physicians at the club.
Woods was making his first start in an official PGA Tour event since he withdrew from the rain-delayed third round at the Masters in April.
Since returning to professional golf after he suffered serious injuries in a car wreck outside Los Angeles in February 2021, Woods has withdrawn or missed the cut in four of his six starts. His two finishes were a tie for 45th in the 2023 Genesis Invitational and a solo 47th in the 2022 Masters.
Last month, Woods said he hoped to play at least one tournament a month if his body would allow it. The field for the Players Championship, which is scheduled for March 14-17 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, will be announced Friday.
