A postseason for the ages is behind us, and another offseason is underway. After many years carrying one of the heavier payrolls in the game, early indications are that the Detroit Tigers will be tightening their belt in 2017. This is big news, as there are many strong-to-elite talents dotting the roster. Cameron Maybin is already gone, and who knows who might follow: Justin Verlander, J.D. Martinez, and perhaps even Miguel Cabrera.
"Whoa! Just one second," you might say. Cabrera, the guy with the contract roughly equivalent to the GDP of a small nation? Who's going to take that on? Well, it all depends on whether you still believe him to be an elite player and on exactly how much money the Tigers might take on to enhance to the caliber of player(s) received in return?
