The Washington Nationals selected shortstop Carter Kieboom of Walton HS (Marietta, Georgia) with the No. 28 pick in Thursday night's MLB first-year player draft. They also selected Florida right-hander Dane Dunning with the No. 29 pick.
Kieboom scouting report: Baseball juju is strong in the Kieboom family. Carter's brother, Spencer, is a catcher in the Nationals system, while another brother, Trevor, has carved out a part-time first base/outfield role at Georgia. Dunning scouting report: Florida's talent depth is unmatched in college baseball right now, and Dunning is a byproduct of the glut of arms the program has recruited. He'll run his sinking fastball up to 95 mph and has an above-average slider in the low to mid-80s that features significant vertical depth for a pitch thrown that hard. Read the full report (Insider)
