Nationals draft SS Carter Kieboom at No. 28, RHP Dane Dunning at No. 29

The Washington Nationals selected shortstop Carter Kieboom of Walton HS (Marietta, Georgia) with the No. 28 pick in Thursday night's MLB first-year player draft. They also selected Florida right-hander Dane Dunning with the No. 29 pick.

Kieboom scouting report: Baseball juju is strong in the Kieboom family. Carter's brother, Spencer, is a catcher in the Nationals system, while another brother, Trevor, has carved out a part-time first base/outfield role at Georgia. Dunning scouting report: Florida's talent depth is unmatched in college baseball right now, and Dunning is a byproduct of the glut of arms the program has recruited. He'll run his sinking fastball up to 95 mph and has an above-average slider in the low to mid-80s that features significant vertical depth for a pitch thrown that hard.
