Rafael Dos Anjos gets Tarec Saffiedine for UFC welterweight debut

Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos will make his welterweight debut against Tarec Saffiedine at UFC Fight Night on June 17 in Singapore.

Officials confirmed the 170-pound matchup to Channel News Asia on Monday. The UFC Fight Night event will take place inside Singapore Indoor Stadium and air on Fight Pass, the UFC's Internet subscription service.

Dos Anjos (25-9) has competed exclusively at lightweight throughout his eight-year UFC career. The former champion is coming off back-to-back losses to Eddie Alvarez and Tony Ferguson, however, and told ESPN.com the cut to 155 pounds has become more difficult.

Originally from Brazil, dos Anjos went 0-2 in 2016, snapping a five-fight win streak.

Saffiedine (16-6) is a former welterweight titleholder for Strikeforce. The Belgian fighter is 2-3 in the UFC and is coming off a split decision loss to Dong Hyun Kim in December.

A heavyweight bout between Andrei Arlovski (25-14) and Marcin Tybura (15-2) is also scheduled for the June 17 event.
