Welterweights Paul Daley, Lorenz Larkin set for Bellator 183 fight

A welterweight matchup between skilled strikers Paul Daley and Lorenz Larkin has been added to Bellator 183 on Sept. 23 in San Jose.

Bellator MMA officials announced the 170-pound bout on Tuesday. The televised Bellator 183 event takes place at SAP Center and airs on Spike TV.

Daley (39-15-2) is coming off a submission loss to Rory MacDonald at Bellator 179 in May.

The hard-hitting English welterweight got into a scuffle with fellow countryman Michael Page shortly after the loss, but that matchup has yet to materialize. Bellator president Scott Coker has said it could happen in early 2018.

In the meantime, Daley draws Larkin (18-6), who came up short in a welterweight title bid against Douglas Lima last month in New York. Larkin lost to Lima via unanimous decision.

Larkin, of Riverside, California, transitioned to Bellator from the UFC earlier this year. Last month's title fight was his promotional debut.

A lightweight fight between Benson Henderson (24-7) and Patricky Freire (17-8) is scheduled to headline Bellator 183. The event also features heavyweight Roy Nelson (23-14) taking on Javy Ayala (10-5), and 20-year-old prospect Aaron Pico's second pro fight.
