UFC female featherweight champion Cris 'Cyborg' Justino has apparently come around on the idea of facing bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes -- as least, if it happens in July.
Justino (19-1) wrote on social media on Monday she has "agreed with my management" to face Nunes on the UFC's annual summer pay-per-view in July.
"I have agreed with my management to fight [Nunes on] July 7 in Las Vegas during international fight week," Justino wrote on Twitter. "I will let her finalize her side of the bout now."
Initially Justino resisted the idea of facing Nunes next because she's said she wishes to build the 145-pound division. Nunes is the 135-pound titleholder.
UFC president Dana White and Nunes have both expressed interest in the bout.
Of course, an agreement with her own management is much different from one with the UFC. The promotion has not revealed a targeted date for the fight but might wish to book it sooner.
Nunes' partner and fellow UFC fighter Nina Ansaroff responded to news of Justino's acceptance on Twitter, writing "#fakenews."
During a public appearance in Boston last week, Nunes, who trains out of South Florida, said she wants to fight Justino and is waiting for a date and contract from the UFC.
Justino, who is originally from Brazil, is coming off her first featherweight title defense. She defeated Holly Holm via unanimous decision at UFC 219 in December.
