UFC employees robbed of personal items in Rio, no injuries reported

UFC and several members of its staff were impacted by an armed robbery late Thursday evening in Rio de Janeiro, according to organization president Dana White.

Several employees lost personal articles including phones, wallets and passports. No injuries were immediately reported.

According to White, Brazilian police arrived on the scene and are in the process of reviewing security footage.

The UFC is in Rio de Janeiro for Saturday's UFC 224 pay-per-view event, at Jeunesse Arena. At this time, no athletes are known to be involved. The UFC 224 official weigh-in is scheduled early Friday morning.

This is the second consecutive pay-per-view event that has been affected by an out-of-cage incident during fight week. Last month, just two days prior to UFC 223 in Brooklyn, lightweight star Conor McGregor appeared unannounced at a media event and attacked a bus filled with UFC fighters and employees.

Two athletes sustained injuries and eventually withdrew from their respective bouts. McGregor is currently facing assault and criminal mischief charges.
