LAS VEGAS -- The two title fights for UFC 239 are now official, as the competitors for the five-round championship bouts made weight Friday at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino.
Jon Jones weighed in right on the mark at 205 pounds for his light heavyweight title defense against Thiago Santos, a fight that will act as the main event for Saturday's card at T-Mobile Arena. Santos weighed in at 204.5 pounds.
In the co-main event, Amanda Nunes will defend her women's bantamweight title against Holly Holm. Nunes weighed 135 pounds. Holm came in under weight, at 133.5 points.
Ben Askren (171) and Jorge Masvidal (170.5) both made weight for their highly anticipated welterweight contender bout.
Jones (24-1, 1 NC) is looking for his 10th successful title defense. Regarded as perhaps the best pound-for-pound fighter in MMA history, Jones, 31, has rebounded from a 15-month suspension for a failed drug test to win twice since December, most recently defeating Anthony Smith by unanimous decision at UFC 235 in March.
Santos (21-6) has won four in a row, the last three by knockout. The 35-year-old Brazilian slugger is 3-0 since moving up from middleweight to light heavyweight and has won eight of his past nine fights overall.
The 31-year-old Nunes (17-4) is looking to cement her status as the best pound-for-pound women's fighter ever in MMA. The Brazilian knockout artist owns the UFC women's bantamweight and featherweight belts and has won eight in a row, including finishes of Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg and Miesha Tate.
Holm (12-4) has won two of her past three fights. The Albuquerque, New Mexico, native is best known for her stunning 2015 head-kick knockout of Rousey. Holm, 37, is a former three-division boxing champion and former UFC women's bantamweight champion.
Every other fighter on the UFC 239 card made weight.
