The UFC is finalizing a light heavyweight bout between Jimmy Crute and Jamahal Hill for an event on Oct. 2, according to multiple sources.
The 205-pound bout will take place on a UFC Fight Night. The promotion has not announced an official venue for the card.
Crute, 25, and Hill, 30, are considered two of the better prospects of the division. They each suffered a setback, however, in recent steps up in competition.
Crute (12-2), an Australian, suffered a first-round TKO loss to Anthony Smith at UFC 261 in April, injuring his leg in the opening round. Prior to the loss, Crute had posted back-to-back first-round finishes. He is 4-2 overall in the UFC.
Hill (8-1), of Michigan, suffered his first loss as a professional at the hands of Paul Craig last month at UFC 263. Hill lost that fight via armbar and strikes, and it appeared he suffered a significant arm injury. His manager, Brian Butler-Au, later revealed he avoided major injury and suffered a dislocation.
Another high-profile light heavyweight bout between Thiago Santos and Johnny Walker will also take place on the Oct. 2 event.
