The fights at UFC Apex in Las Vegas are on ESPN+, with the 7 p.m. ET main card preceded by prelims at 4 p.m.
Yan (15-3, 1 NC) has lost two fights in a row following a 13-bout unbeaten streak. The 33-year-old from China is No. 5 in the ESPN strawweight rankings.
The sixth-ranked Dern (12-2) has won five of her last six. A muiltiple-time world jiu-jitsu champion, Dern has had earned four of her seven UFC wins by submission, the most of any 115-pounder.

Parker: "[Yan] will be the superior striker, and I believe she will be the physically stronger athlete of the two. She had a hard time stopping [Carla] Esparza's takedowns, but to be fair, Esparza is a fantastic wrestler, and Dern doesn't have the same entries as her."
Kuhn: "Yan's takedown defense of 65% probably won't hold up for long. Once on the ground, Dern will have an advantage in experience, positioning and threat of submissions."
