Elton Brand is the most experienced player in Pelicans-76ers -- by a lot

Elton Brand, who you might have forgotten was still in the NBA, made his first start of the season for the Philadelphia 76ers as they hosted the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night. It was the 868th start of Brand's career, which ranks him 16th among active players.

The other nine starters in the game didn't have that level of experience. In fact, Brand's 868 starts were 315 more than the other nine starters in the game combined.

Brand is in his second stint in Philadelphia after signing to provide a veteran locker room presence earlier this season. In his first go-round with the 76ers, he started 81 games in the 2010-11 season. That's more starts in one year than three of his fellow 76ers starters tonight have in their careers.

Just to hammer home the experience disparity: Brand shared the starting lineup with Jerami Grant, who was five years old when Brand entered the league with the Chicago Bulls in 1999-2000. Grant's father, Harvey, retired the same summer Brand was drafted.
