Jazz F Gordon Hayward out vs. Pelicans with left quad contusion

SALT LAKE CITY -- One day after clinching its first postseason berth in five seasons, the Utah Jazz will be without All-Star forward Gordon Hayward on Monday against the New Orleans Pelicans because of a left quad contusion.

Hayward, 27, suffered the injury in Saturday's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. X-rays taken after the game were negative.

Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins will also miss his second straight game with a right ankle sprain.

Cousins, 26, suffered the injury in Friday's loss to the Houston Rockets and sat out Sunday's game in Denver because of lingering soreness.

Joe Ingles will start in Hayward's place.

Dante Cunningham will start his second straight game in place of Cousins.

Derrick Favors (left knee contusion) and Alec Burks (personal) will also sit out for the Jazz.

The Pelicans are 31-42 overall and four games back of both the Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers for the eight seed in the Western Conference with nine to play.

Their 25-point win Sunday in Denver helped Utah to officially clinched its spot in the playoffs.
