When JJ Redick signed a one-year deal as a free agent with the Philadelphia 76ers last offseason, he posted on social media: "Trust the process."
A year later, having helped the Sixers significantly further that process with a run to the Eastern Conference semifinals, the veteran sharpshooter indicated that he hopes to remain in Philadelphia in the future.
"I think it is a mutual appreciation," Redick told reporters Thursday, a day after Philly's season ended in Game 5 with a loss to the Boston Celtics. "I am sure we all hope I am back."
Redick signed a one-year, $23 million deal last offseason with the 76ers. It proved a significant addition for a young Philly team, as Redick averaged 17.1 points and 2.8 3-pointers per game.
Now, he's set to become an unrestricted free agent in July, when he'll be 34.
"The numbers can get tricky," he said. "It is not my job to worry about that. I will let [Sixers president and general manager Bryan Colangelo], my agent and the events over the next two months play out, and we will make a decision."
