New York Jets wide receiver Breshad Perriman sprained his ankle and may miss a game or two, coach Adam Gase announced Monday.
Perriman's injury left the Jets with Chris Hogan, Braxton Berrios and Josh Malone as their starting receivers for the 31-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
They went into the game without Jamison Crowder (hamstring) and rookie Denzel Mims (hamstring), who is on injured reserve.
Perriman, signed in the offseason to replace Robby Anderson, was a nonfactor in his first two games. Facing the injury-ravaged 49ers secondary, he managed only two catches for 12 yards.
The Jets also expect to be without center Connor McGovern (strained hamstring) Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. McGovern is listed as week-to-week. Gase wouldn't rule him out, but he didn't sound optimistic, saying he won't play McGovern unless they're confident he can play a full game.
McGovern would be replaced by Josh Andrews, who played center for the final 16 plays in Sunday's loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Andrews, a former Colt, has played 28 games as a backup, but has never started a game.
Andrews would be Sam Darnold's fifth center in 28 career starts at quarterback.
