Great Britain Sevens revealed their preparation plans for the 2016 Olympics on Friday, highlighting the tight time frame facing any XV-a-side stars who wish to compete in Rio.
Men's head coach Simon Amor is set to name his training squad for the Games at the start of May, with those selected meeting up following the London Sevens, which take place at Twickenham on May 21-22.
That training camp will represent the first time that selected internationals from the England, Scotland and Wales Sevens sides come together, with Amor confirming they could be also joined by XVs players.
Amor will then oversee two sides playing three Rugby Europe Sevens events -- in Moscow (June 4-5), Exeter (July 9-10) and Gdynia (July 16-17) -- as well as City and the Sevens (July 2) at Allianz Park, before the final 12-man squad is selected in mid-July.
With the Aviva Premiership and PRO12 finals both scheduled for May 28, and with summer tours for all the home nations as well as England Saxons in June, Amor could have a fight on his hands to secure the release of his preferred players.
British and Irish Lions Stuart Hogg and George North have both been linked with Olympic selection but would have to negotiate their release from Scotland and Wales respectively, as would Anthony Watson from England.
"Being able to enter two GB Teams in all competitions allows us to test different combinations and confirm which XVs players can make the physical, mental and game understanding transition.
"It is a condensed programme as a result of a number of unique challenges but everyone involved is determined to give it everything for Team GB to be successful in Rio," Amor said.
"By the time we have played at our home tournament in Exeter, we will have a good understanding of which players are really putting their hands up.
"I've been looking closely both at Sevens specialists from across the three unions and a number of 15-a-side players throughout the season and know the balance we need in the squad.
"Previous international Sevens experience is important for the players coming in and certain positions and skill sets allow them to blend better with current Sevens players."
Women's head coach Simon Middleton continues to work with a squad of 24 that has been together since October and has played in Dubai, Las Vegas and Vancouver where they finished first, second and third respectively.
Ahead of the Olympics, GB women will compete in the Rugby Europe Event in Kazan (June 11-12), entering two teams, and an invitational tournament in Tignes (July 14-16).
