Italy international Stephan El Shaarawy is close to completing a transfer from AC Milan to Monaco.
El Shaarawy, 22, underwent a medical with the French league club on Monday with Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that Monaco will pay Milan a €16 million fee and that the forward will sign a five-year deal worth €3m per season.
"I'm very happy and calm, I still have to take everything in," he told Sky Sports Italia. "I took a big decision in the space of 24 hours, but I think it was the right one for my career. It all happened very quickly. This is a good scene and I'm very confident."
In 2012-13, El Shaarawy was Serie A's top scorer at the season's midpoint with 14 goals but then struggled the second half of the campaign after Mario Balotelli's arrival.
Since then, over the past two seasons he has struggled with injuries and Milan signed strikers Carlos Bacca and Luiz Adriano to replace him this summer.
