Haller & Clark win O'Neill Evolution Pipe

The first 6-star TTR halfpipe contest of the season just wrapped up in Davos, Switzerland. In a head-to-head battle between Christian Haller and fellow Swiss pipe destroyer, Iouri Podladtchikov that saw the lead switching every heat, the hometown hero took it in the end. Online chatters watching the live online broadcast cried foul when Haller's frontside 10 to Cab 10 to frontside 9 beat out I Pod's crippler, to double McTwist 12 to frontside 10 tail to take the win, but what would a snowboard contest be without drama?

"I was thinking that I could have made it two wins in two years after landing my trick," said Podladtchikov, who won the Evolution halfpipe event last year, "but it feels great to have Christian in front of me. Of course it hurts a bit. But it's Christian. If it was someone else I would probably be more [mad] right now."

In a surprise upset, Jan Scherrer, a 16 year old from Davos, edged out last year's TTR World Tour Champion Peetu Piirionen to take third.

Notably absent from the women's halfpipe competition were fellow podium dominators Torah Bright and Kaitlyn Farrington. Without any substantial competition, Kelly Clark handily won the women's event, with Slovenia's Cilka Sadar and Norway's Kjersti Ostgaard Buaas coming in second and third, respectively.

The final day of O'Neill's Evolution slopestyle competition takes place tomorrow, with some heavies laying it down. Check out the video of Seb Toutant running the course here. If you're an early riser, you can watch the comp live at oneill.com/evolution/live at ... 6 a.m. ET.
