Guard Jerie Pingoy is set to join the growing list of aspirants for the upcoming PBA Rookie Draft, he told ESPN5.com.
Pingoy, who played his last two collegiate seasons with the Adamson Soaring Falcons, will be passing his application soon, he added.
"I want to develop myself as a player since every player in the PBA is very good. That's what I am willing to do. As long as I could do it, I will do it just to reach for my dreams," Pingoy said in Filipino.
The Cebuano guard is most known for his stellar high school career, having won two UAAP Juniors MVPs while playing for the FEU Baby Tamaraws.
His transfer to Ateneo triggered the implementation of a UAAP residency rule that redshirted him for his first two years in college.
Pingoy played for the Blue Eagles for one season before leaving the school due to academic issues. He did not have much success in Adamson as well after dealing with numerous injuries.
To prepare for the upcoming annual selection, the 26-year-old revealed that he had been working on his skills and nutrition in order to be able to keep up with the country's best players.
He most recently played for Karate Kid - CEU Scorpions in the PBA D-League Aspirant's Cup just before the pandemic.
On the other hand, his former Adamson teammate Tyrus Hill, who last suited up for the DLSU Green Archers, has also expressed intention in joining the draft as well, DLSU team sources bared.
The source added that Hill had already informed the team of his intentions last December.
Hill played for one year under coach Franz Pumaren before leaving the school controversially. The 6'5 high leaper, along with Kurt Lojera, allegedly told team management that they were being recruited by NCAA Division 1 school San Jose State.
Much to the shock of the Falcons, Hill transferred to La Salle, and served his one-year residency in 2018. In UAAP Season 82, he played sparingly for the Green Archers.
The Fil-Am forward last suited up for EcoOil-DLSU, also in the D-League, last March.
