THURSDAY

TCU 27, Texas Tech 24: Tech's defense is way underrated and plays well against TCU's balanced attack, but Casey Pachall carries the Frogs to a go-ahead score in the fourth quarter. Michael Brewer couldn't engineer an answer in the final minutes.

SATURDAY

Oklahoma State 51, Lamar 10: I don't know who this "Lamar" fellow is, but my hat is off to him for collecting a six-figure paycheck for this game. The only intriguing storyline for this game would have been Oklahoma State transfer Herschel Sims, but he's off the Cardinals' roster.

Iowa State 34, Iowa 24: The Cy-Hawk rivalry has been truly thrilling in each of the past two seasons, though last year's 9-6 game wasn't the prettiest affair. I'm taking Sam Richardson to rebound for his best game since rolling over Kansas last season.

Texas 38, Ole Miss 21: David Ash showed a lot of folks what he was capable of in Oxford last season, stringing together 15 consecutive completions on the way to a 35-point win. This one won't be as lopsided, but the Horns' tempo and balance offensive gets the best of the Rebels once again.

Kansas State 34, UMass 7: Kansas State finally gets a drama-free Saturday against the Minutemen, trying to keep their heads above water in their second year as an FBS member. Daniel Sams gets in the end zone twice.

Oklahoma 37, Tulsa 20: The Golden Hurricane are always an intriguing squad that should be good enough to beat the Sooners if the right factors fall their way, but it never seems to be as close as it looks on paper. That's especially true in Norman. Big day for Jalen Saunders.

Kansas 31, Rice 27: Kansas has done what no team has ever done before: Earned revenge against the Rice Owls. I'll leave it to you to decide how much of that is good and how much is bad, but a win is a win, and it's a road win, too. Kansas hasn't won one of those since beating UTEP back on Sept. 12, 2009.

West Virginia 55, Georgia State 17: The only thing worse than FCS games are games against teams who have existed since 2010.
