CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton wore all kinds of protective gear during an injury-plagued 2014 season, but nothing like the outfit he donned on Sunday.

Instead of hunting Easter eggs, Newton became a large version of one with an afternoon of Knockerball.

Here was Newton’s Instagram post if you missed it:

If you’ve never heard of Knockerball, there is an official website that will explain it. Participants basically put their upper body in a plastic bubble and then thrust themselves at other competitors.

Newton, who at this time last year was recovering from surgery to repair his left ankle, appeared to be having a blast launching his 6-foot-5, 245-pound body at opponents.

The video shows him actually leaving the ground and becoming a human projectile as though he is diving over the pile at the goal line.

Unfortunately for Newton, the bubble isn’t standard NFL equipment.

But as you can see in the video, there are no lingering effects from the ankle surgery, fractured ribs suffered during a preseason game or the broken bones in the quarterback’s lower back suffered in a December car accident.
